"Magical Words" is based on respect and positive empowerment of others. The main character of my book Ms. Wiggles teaches her students that to be happy one needs to love and honor oneself first and then to extend that to others. The lesson or moral of this book is to realize that one cannot give from an empty cup. She inspires the children to live their life by the Golden Rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." She does this task by her example and by the use of "magical words".
"Magical Words" Supports the Ontario Curriculum Document
"Providing children with choice in the learning environment is key to supporting their emerging ability to self-regulate. In addition, an environment of caring, kindness, and cooperation in the classroom supports the development of social and pro social self-regulation in children. Initially modelled by the educators, practices such as making time for conversation, checking in with one another, helping out, and solving problems with friends become part of the culture of the classroom and of the excepted behavior of the children".
