“ I had Judy Weagle come in for an author visit at both of my schools in November. She has published 3 picture books and is in the process of writing her 4th. She is a retired YCDSB teacher and was really great with the kids and each of her books has a very positive message about loving yourself and treating others with compassion. Her website is www.judyweagle.com and her visit was quite affordable and she has great ideas for follow up activities as well.”

I am a teacher-librarian at two catholic elementary school in Newmarket and had the opportunity to have Judy Weagle visit my primary students at both schools. All three of Judy’s books have great messages in them about loving yourself and sharing that love by complimenting others on their gifts and talents. The kids really enjoyed listening to Judy read her picture books and were excited by the follow up activities that Judy provided. The Kindergarten students tried on masks and became flowers after reading Dandelion, offering compliments to one another. The grade one and two students were excited to become the cute llamas and fuzzy camels that were on Lisa’s Pyjamas and the grade 3s are looking forward to making Magical Words buttons in the library.

I recommend a visit from Judy Weagle in your school library because she brings great literature and positive messages for your students.

On May 8th and 9th, Our Lady Of Hope and Holy Name, respectively, welcomed author Judy Weagle who taught elementary school for 25 years and is now writing story books to empower children by using perseverance and anti-bullying themes.

Judy read and discussed her books, which included: Lisa and her Pyjamas - based on perseverance and tolerance; Dandelion - based on anti-bullying; and Magical Words - based on respect and effective communication and the students were enthralled! It was a great experience for all the students from FDK to grade 3 and teachers alike; and we believe that your children/students would enjoy and benefit from Judy’s very positive messages.

Am I able to purchase your three books? Recently, I was so impressed with the content of "Magical Words". I teach grade 2 and one of my students read it to the class on Friday of this past week. I used the hovercam and she read the words so that her classmates were able to see the wonderful pictures. I loved the message and I immediately wanted a copy of this book. Every day the children copy a good feeling message into their agenda and we always talk about the importance of being kind. I am also very passionate about putting an end to bullying so I believe that "Dandelion" would be another wonderful addition to my personal collection of books.
